Introducing Montcalm Wind
The Montcalm Wind project is an opportunity to help address Michigan's growing electricity demand with clean, homegrown energy, while supporting local farmers, diversifying the Montcalm County economy, and creating new jobs in the community.
With the potential to generate enough electricity to power up to 90,000 homes per year, Montcalm Wind will help drive Michigan's transition to a clean energy economy while providing a new opportunity for sustained economic development in the region.

AN ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR Montcalm COUNTY
Montcalm Wind will create jobs and generate an entirely new source of long-term revenue for local schools, government services, farmers, and residents. The total direct financial impact to the region will be in the millions of dollars over the life of the project, with additional indirect economic benefits to the local economy. In the long term, the project promises to bring sustained tax revenue to the county for the local government and schools, as well as more than 30 years of local purchasing, employment, and investment.
Landowners and community members participating in the wind project will receive annual lease payments. These payments will continue over the projected 30-year lifespan of the wind farm, injecting millions of dollars into the local economy to support local merchants, contractors, equipment suppliers, auto dealers, and others. The power from Montcalm Wind will be delivered into the Michigan electrical grid, reducing the need to import electricity from outside markets.
